Only Half Britons Support Afghan Bombing - Poll

LONDON (Reuters) - Only half of Britons support the continued U.S. air strikes
against Taliban targets in Afghanistan, according to an opinion poll for the Guardian
newspaper published on Tuesday. 

The telephone poll of 1,004 people between November 16 and 18 showed that 51
percent supported the bombing as the Taliban forces collapse in the face of a ground
offensive by the Northern Alliance. 

It said 29 percent of people believed the U.S. bombing campaign against the Taliban
was not justified.
